TELL ME HOW YOU FILL YOUR DAYS. THINK BIG PICTURE: CURRENT BUSINESS, INTERESTS, AND AREAS THAT YOU'RE PASSIONATE ABOUT MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN.

Like so many small companies I do different things across the board on a daily basis. Product management and production, marketing, sales, customer relations, bookkeeping, you name it. This is the type of work that keeps it interesting.

WHAT DO YOU CONSIDER YOUR FIRST BUSINESS VENTURE?

In 1994, after working with Internet protocols while in the military, I ended up writing and publishing a book on web sites and the Internet. This experience thrust me into one of my first ventures, founding an early Web hosting and consulting company.

CAN YOU THINK OF A FEW PIVOTAL PEOPLE, EVENTS, OR DECISIONS THAT ALLOWED YOU TO JUMP OFF THAT CLIFF FOR THE FIRST TIME AND START YOUR OWN BUSINESS?

Lack of resources in an emerging technology market. Essentially out of need or frustration. I believe this is often the case.

LOOKING BACK ON THAT FIRST BUSINESS, WHAT ARE A FEW KEY LESSONS THAT YOU CARRIED ONTO YOUR SUBSEQUENT VENTURES?

It's all about the people and your integrity. There are always opportunities in business to take shortcuts, these shortcuts rarely make for a sound or lasting business.

WHAT PART OF THE PROCESS IS MOST EXCITING TO YOU: CREATING A NEW CONCEPT, WORKING TO PERFECT AN OPERATION, OR GROWING A GOOD THING? SOMETHING ELSE?

The creation of, and learning something new. I always want to be learning in life and business.

THINK ABOUT YOUR ANSWER TO THE QUESTION ABOVE. CAN YOU MAKE ANY CONNECTION TO HOW THIS IS REFLECTED IN YOUR PHILOSOPHY ON LIFE? Life is short, experience everything you can.
